Renewal rather than Retirement

for those who have the option to retire ...

1:1 coaching program

The good news is we live in an era of greater longevity, and the opportunity to redefine retirement.

Let’s replace the term ‘retirement’ with ‘renewal’. What do you think? I use the term retirement only in the absence of a more recognised term. It signifies an important career and life stage but it’s an outdated term since we live in an era with so many possibilities for the years - decades, ahead.

Just as you focus on the financial planning, it's critical to develop a plan for how you will spend your time and thrive in the years ahead.

Whether you intend to retire or you choose to continue working in some form, my role is to help you move forward with confidence.

It’s about taking charge of the confronting changes that this significant life and career stage may represent and identifying a path forward to enable you to thrive in the years ahead.

Commonly experienced changes relate to the change in professional identity, your place in the world, your networks and purpose, after dedicating years to achieving a successful career.

How do you want to feel in the years ahead? Relevant? Fulfilled? Energised? Something else?

I can help you to develop a strategy for navigating change so you can move forward with confidence.

Importantly, we also focus on your aspirations for your next chapter so you can move forward with a renewed sense of purpose.

Case Study

As coach, I have been serving as a sounding board for a client planning to retire in 18 months.

This client is a high achiever, who is planning to step back from a highly successful career spanning 45 years.

My role is to provide structure and a process for the client’s thinking, planning and decision-making.

An early win was identifying his key decisions and the timing for implementing each of those decisions.

A key focus for our work together over the months ahead will be identifying what’s next for him – which may include working in some form.

This may sound straight-forward but the experience usually involves exploring a range of options, the client taking action, reviewing expectations, possibly trying a different option or several options over time and at each stage, moving forward with confidence.

It promises to be an exciting process.
